Pavona, also known as the "eye of a peacock feather", is a theme of ancient Eastern origin that alludes to the rising sun, in the Christian sphere it symbolizes the resurrection.
The Persian Palmette is also of oriental origin: it appears in Faenza in the second half of the fifteenth century and is characterized by the representation of flowers in the shape of a pine cone.
The decorations in Pavona and Palmette are often found together, usually the Palmette surrounds the main decoration in Pavona.
