Vase 35 cm Pavona

Hand decorated majolica ornamental vase in the traditional Pavona and Cartoccio style.

In the foreground, the “Peacock’s Eye” decoration among leaves called “Cartoccio”, free interpretations of the ornamental motifs of the fifteenth century. According to legend, the Pavona style – of oriental inspiration – spread widely in Faenza also due to the assonance with the surname of Cassandra Pavoni from Ferrara, lover of the lord of Faenza Galeotto Manfredi.
