Artistic ceramic plate decorated by hand in Pavona and Persian Palmette styles, with in the center two birds called “astorre” with intertwined necks.

Astorre is a bird with a long neck, a recurring figure in the majolica of Faenza.

The plots formed by animals represent, according to the symbolism, the flow of divine energy in the forms, growth, continuity, life. Furthermore the intertwining of the hills and the union of the beaks recalls the shape of the heart. That’s why this plate is often chosen as a wedding or anniversary gift.

This ornamental plate is inspired by a majolica vase made in Faenza in 1480-1490 and kept at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

Plate size: 31 cm in diameter, 3.5 cm in height.

The plate is designed for wall mounting.
