CategoryOrnamental plate with two astorre from the woven necks in the center and decoration in Pavona (peahen) and Persian Palmette in the brim.
For the decoration of this artistic pottery, entirely hand painted in our artisan workshop, we were inspired by a majolica vase made in 1480-1490 in Faenza and kept at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
Characteristic of Faenza majolica, the astorre is a bird with a typical long neck, often represented intertwined with another astorre. For the traditional symbology, the interweaving formed by animals represent the flow of divine energy in the forms, growth, continuity, life.
Around the center, a ring with Rosetta flowers and buds, while the wider external circle sees Persian Palmette (flowers in the shape of a pinecone) dominated by Pavona, “fans” painted in bright colors inspired by the peacock’s tail.
The symbolism of Pavona decoration is very similar to that of the heroes, making this dish an ideal gift for happy recurrences such as weddings and anniversaries.
Dimensions: 41.5 cm in diameter, 4 cm in height.
The plate is designed for wall hanging.
