Hand painted ceramic apothecary jar with lid – Ghianda (acorn) decoration.
Note the detail of the lid: the knob is an open flower with a smaller flower close by, skilfully shaped by hand.
Pharmacy jars were very popular from the late Middle Ages to the eighteenth century, when they were mainly decorated with coats of arms, celebrities and patron saints. Currently they continue to produce to furnish a bookcase or any piece of furniture; in this case the colors of orange and green adapt very well to the colors of the wood.
Pot size: height 24 cm – width 18 cm.
