Apothecary jar hand painted with Pavoncelle decoration that run above and below the cartouche where the words “Ribes nero” (Black currant) appear.

Black currant has anti-inflammatory properties and is used in cooking and for the preparation of the French liqueur Cassis. In the past, the aroma of black currant was not the current one, due to selections made by man, but unpleasant and repellent.
