Apothecary jar 34.5 cm Cornflower

Hand painted apothecary jar with Palmette decoration and Fiordaliso (Cornflower) writing.

The beautiful blue-azure cornflower flowers are used for eye care. According to legend, King William I of Germany surprised his mother by weaving small bunches of cornflower to calm the children who were with her. The scene struck the king to the point that he decided to use this flower as a symbol of the coat of arms of the court.
