Saint Anthony the Abbot 33.5 cm

Ceramic depicting Saint Anthony the Abbot in monastic dress, with the cross-shaped staff equipped with a bell and the Holy Scriptures carried under his arm; the saint is surrounded by the pig and other animals typical of Italian countryside, as well as by the little fire.

The ceramic tile features the figure of the saint in relief and was enamelled and hand painted according to the traditional Faenza technique.

Saint Anthony is the patron saint of domestic animals and livestock, which is why a printed or ceramic image of him is traditionally affixed in farmers’ stables and farmyards. But not everyone knows that he is also the protector of those who work with fire, therefore of firefighters, bakers and also of us ceramists.

Ceramic also suitable for outdoors and to resist seasonal weather.
