Hand-painted vase with hand-painted lid in traditional “Garofano” style, with “Ginepro” (juniper in Italian) in the cartouche.

The decoration in Garofano (Carnation), inspired by the Orient, is one of the best known and identification of Faenza ceramics. Likewise, juniper is a spontaneous bush typical of the Mediterranean and Italian Alpine promontories. Its berries are used in pharmacy for antiseptic and expectorant properties.
