Hand-painted ceramic apothecary jar with Persian Palmetta decoration and “Genziana” (gentiana) writing in the cartouche.

Of the gentian, only the dried root is used; it has a pleasant bitter taste and is used against gastric and digestive tract diseases, but it has also been used as a toning and strengthening of the immune system.
