Plate ø 61.5 cm “Le Plaisir pastoral”

Large hand-painted majolica plate with brightly colored decorations: the dance scene in the center of the plate is inspired by the painting “Le Plaisir pastoral” (1715) by Jean-Antoine Watteau, while on the brim we observe 6 cartouches in which small figurines of children are inserted. All remaining spaces are filled with a brush with blue color.

This piece, of great value, combines decorations inspired by the Raphaelesques with new elements born from the fervent imagination of Giovanni Pretolani, Laura Silvagni’s historic master.

The plate was shaped by hand, it is smooth and slightly bent at the bottom on the outside. It was painted in 2000 by Giovanni Pretolani for L. Silvagni, as can be seen from the writing on the back.
